Football Club des Girondins de Bordeaux (commonly referred to as Girondins de Bordeaux or simply Bordeaux) is a French professional football club based in the city of Bordeaux. The club currently play in Ligue 1, the first division of French football, and won its last Ligue 1 title in the 2008–09 season. Bordeaux was founded in 1881 as a multi-sports club and is one of the most successful football clubs in France. The club has won six Ligue 1 titles, which is the joint fourth-most in its history. Bordeaux have also won four Coupe de France titles, three Coupe de la Ligue titles, and three Trophée des champions. The club has the honour of having appeared in the most finals in the Coupe de la Ligue, having appeared in six of the 16 finals contested. Bordeaux plays its home games at the Stade Chaban-Delmas, named after the former mayor of Bordeaux, Jacques Chaban-Delmas. The facility was previously known as the Parc Lescure and seats 34,362. The club is currently in negotiations to build a new stadium, which will seat 42,000. The city of Bordeaux is listed as a site for UEFA Euro 2016 in the French bid to host.

Il club venne fondato nel 1881 come società polisportiva. La squadra gioca le partite casalinghe nello Stade Matmut-Atlantique. Nella sua storia il Bordeaux ha vinto il campionato francese per sei volte (1949-1950, 1983-1984, 1984-1985, 1986-1987, 1998-1999 e 2008-2009) e molto spesso ha preso parte alle coppe europee. In questo ambito il suo risultato migliore è stata la vittoria della Coppa Intertoto nel 1995 e la conseguente qualificazione alla Coppa UEFA, competizione nella quale ha poi raggiunto la finale (persa per 1-5 complessivo contro il Bayern Monaco). È stata l'unica squadra ad aver disputato la finale di Coppa UEFA partendo dalla Coppa Intertoto (torneo abolito dalla UEFA dopo l'ultima edizione del 2008). Dal 2001 il club è divenuto una compagnia sussidiaria del gruppo televisivo francese M6.
